MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR BENEFITS BEFORE THE YEAR ENDS

As the end of the year approaches, now is a great time to review your health insurance benefits and make the most of the coverage you have available. If you’ve already met your deductible or are getting close, your out-of-pocket costs for physical therapy may be lower than they were earlier in the year.

Depending on your insurance plan, meeting your deductible may mean you pay less for each visit, particularly if you’ve also met your out-of-pocket maximum. Some plans may even cover physical therapy visits with little to no additional cost. Because every plan is different, it’s worth taking a few minutes to check your remaining deductible, copay, coinsurance, and physical therapy coverage with your insurance provider.

Have you been putting off treatment? Whether you’re dealing with persistent pain, recovering from an injury, noticing changes in your balance, or finding it harder to keep up with your usual activities, you don’t have to wait for the new year to take the next step. Physical therapy can help you work toward better mobility, improved strength, and greater confidence in your everyday movements.

Don’t let the benefits you’ve worked toward all year go unused! If you’ve been considering physical therapy or need to continue working toward your recovery goals, now is a great time to reach out. Contact our office to discuss scheduling and verify your insurance benefits so you can make an informed decision about your care before the year ends.

The holiday season is kicking into gear, and you don’t want to miss out on the fun due to your arthritis symptoms. So call now before things start to get really busy!

Understanding Arthritis Symptoms

Arthritis is an umbrella term for over a hundred different conditions, all of which cause joint inflammation. However, most people have either osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. Symptoms for both conditions are similar, but there are a few key differences.

Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis in the world. It occurs when the cartilage in your joint degenerates over time–which is why your risk of developing it increases as you get older. Symptoms include the following:

  • Pain in the impacted joint, particularly during activity
  • Stiffness in the joint, particularly first thing in the morning
  • Cracking, creaking, crunching, or other joint noises

Rheumatoid arthritis, the second most common type, is an autoimmune condition that causes your body to attack the tissue in your joints. The primary symptoms are similar to osteoarthritis (joint pain and stiffness), but it can cause additional symptoms as well:

  • Swelling in the joints
  • Redness, warmth, or tenderness in the impacted area
  • Flares of fatigue and just generally not feeling well

Innovative Approaches to Physical Wellness this Thanksgiving Season

Move Well
Feel Well

Thanksgiving is more than just a day of feasting; it’s a time to come together and celebrate what we’re thankful for. While traditional advice often emphasizes the basics, let’s elevate your approach to physical well-being this season with these cutting-edge tips:

Three Ways to Feel Your Best This Thanksgiving

01

Dynamic Warm-Up Before the Turkey Trot

If you’re planning a Thanksgiving morning run or family games, forget old-school stretching. Use a dynamic warm-up to prep your muscles and boost your range of motion.

02

Text Neck Prevention

As we catch up on social media or text friends and family Thanksgiving wishes, “text neck” can be a real issue. Counteract this by sitting tall or not at all and doing neck stretches every hour.

03

Mindfulness Through Movement

Instead of sitting to meditate or relax, try combining mindfulness with gentle movements like Tai Chi or a light stroll through the neighborhood.

A Healthier Holiday

Make Wellness Part of Your Thanksgiving Tradition

Embrace your health by prioritizing your physical and mental well-being to ensure you have the best Thanksgiving yet! 🦃
